Psychological Therapy for Adults, Couples, and Families

Psychological Practice

Alongside my writing, research and advisory work, I maintain a selective clinical practice with adults, couples and families. I am a BACP-registered therapist with doctoral training in counselling psychology, with particular experience in complex trauma, relationships, neurodivergence and major life transitions.

I am a BACP-registered therapist with doctoral training in counselling psychology, and a Visiting Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Roehampton. My clinical work is formulation-led and informed by research, teaching and sustained therapeutic practice.

I work integratively and formulation-led, drawing primarily on psychodynamic and schema therapy to understand how earlier experiences, relationships and patterns continue to shape life in the present. Where appropriate, I incorporate EMDR and CBT-informed approaches, particularly in trauma work. Therapy is collaborative: the aim is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to understand what sustains them and create change that can last.

I have worked across NHS, private and international mental-health settings with people experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties, including complex and longstanding concerns. Working across different cultural contexts has also made me attentive to the ways culture, identity and context shape both distress and its meaning.

Many people I work with are thoughtful, capable and outwardly functioning, yet feel inwardly stuck, overwhelmed or uncertain about their direction. Often they have spent a long time managing alone and come to therapy wanting not only relief, but a clearer understanding of themselves, their relationships and the patterns that keep repeating.

Fees vary according to the type and frequency of sessions. Therapy may be brief and focused or longer-term and exploratory, depending on what is needed. I offer an initial conversation so we can discuss what you’re looking for, answer any questions and decide whether working together feels like a good fit.

The Algorithmic State

The Algorithmic State (forthcoming) explores why anxiety, burnout, loneliness and social fragmentation are becoming structural features of modern life. Drawing on psychology, neuroscience, political economy and technology, it traces how power has moved inward — from institutions and markets into attention, identity and ultimately the nervous system itself. In environments built for optimisation, prediction and continuous engagement, what feels personal is increasingly shaped by design. Rather than asking how individuals can cope better, the book asks a more fundamental question: what kind of society would allow people to finally stand down?

Borderless

Borderless (2027) is a literary novel about the seduction of reinvention. When Charlotte Hughes leaves London for India, she imagines she can escape the borders that have shaped her life — of nation, class, ambition and identity. Instead, she discovers that every crossing creates new boundaries, and every search for freedom carries its own forms of exile. Moving through Delhi, Bangalore, Goa and the Himalayan foothills, Borderless explores love, power, belonging and the uneasy freedoms of contemporary global life.
