“What feels personal is often designed”
EXPLORE THE WORK

I’m a historian, psychologist and writer working on AI, power and inner life.

My work spans research, writing, clinical practice and advisory work on AI ethics and psychological risk. I’m interested in how markets, institutions and technologies move from shaping the world around us to shaping the world within us.

The deeper question is:

What, exactly, are we being asked to adapt to?

The stakes are no longer futuristic. The stakes are immediate. AI is entering work, education, care and relationships before we have agreed what should remain human.

I have worked on both sides of that divide — in strategy consulting and technology product development, and in teaching and clinical practice. I know the gap between what systems intend and what people experience.

 About Clare

Living and working across Europe, Asia and the US taught me how quickly ideas of status, belonging and normality change across contexts. I write fiction and nonfiction about the forces that shape modern lives.

Ways Into the Work

Writing, conversation, advisory and clinical work across psychology, technology and public life.

Psychological Practice

Psychological work with individuals, couples, teams and organisations — from complex trauma and relationship difficulties to conflict, group dynamics, culture and psychologically informed change. BACP-registered, with advanced doctoral training in counselling psychology.

Books & Ideas

Writing is where thought slows and sharpens. The Algorithmic State (forthcoming) examines how digital systems govern inner life; Borderless (2027) explores belonging and power across borders. The Algorithmic Mind podcast brings these questions into conversation.

Advisory & Speaking

AI is reshaping behaviour, trust and decision-making. I work with organisations, founders and public leaders on its psychological and ethical implications — from human risk and responsible design to the wider consequences of introducing intelligent systems into everyday life.
